Why not just shave a double coat?

It's tempting in August, but shaving a double-coated dog can change how the coat grows back and removes some of the natural protection from sun and heat. If your dog's coat is badly matted, your groomer may still recommend clipping; that's a conversation to have with them.

Timing it right
